Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 23, 2026
PB Breakers ("we," "us," "the app") is a private fishing club and tournament app. This policy explains what information we collect, why, how we handle it, and the choices you have. We've tried to write it in plain English.
The short version: We collect what we need to run the app — your account info, the catches you log (including photos and the location where they were taken), and basic usage analytics. We don't sell your data. Your catch locations and photos are shared with members of clubs you join. You can delete your content and your account.
Who we are
PB Breakers is operated by the PB Breakers team. If you have any questions about this policy or your data, contact us at info.pbbreakers@gmail.com.
Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account information — your email address and password (passwords are stored securely by our authentication provider; we never see them in plain text). Optionally, a display name, hometown, and profile photo.
- Catches you log — species, weight, length, lure, notes, and photos you upload.
- Club and tournament activity — clubs you create or join, tournaments, standings, and messages you post in club chat.
- Feedback — anything you submit through the in-app feedback tool, including optional screenshots.
Location information
When you upload a catch photo, the app reads the GPS coordinates and time stored inside that photo (its "EXIF" metadata) to place the catch on a map and look up the weather and moon phase for that spot and time. This means we collect and store the location where your catches were taken. This location is visible to members of clubs you belong to and, depending on app settings, may appear in shared feeds. If you don't want to share a location, remove location data from a photo before uploading, or upload a photo without GPS metadata.
Information collected automatically
- Weather and environmental data — based on your catch's location and time, retrieved from a third-party weather service (Open-Meteo).
- Usage analytics — we use PostHog to understand how the app is used (for example, which features are opened and how often). This is event-based analytics identified by an internal user ID, not your email. We do not use session recording. We do not capture join codes, passwords, or message contents in analytics.
- Technical information — basic device and browser information needed to run and troubleshoot the app.
How we use your information
- To provide the core features: logging catches, running clubs and tournaments, showing leaderboards, maps, weather, and chat.
- To share your catches and activity with members of clubs you join.
- To understand usage and improve the app.
- To communicate with you about your account (for example, password resets).
- To keep the app secure and enforce our Terms of Service.
How your information is shared
- With other users — your display name, profile photo, catches (including photos and locations), and club chat messages are visible to members of clubs you belong to, and catches may appear in shared feeds within the app.
- With service providers — we rely on trusted third parties to operate the app: our backend and authentication provider (Supabase), hosting (Netlify), maps (Mapbox), weather (Open-Meteo), and analytics (PostHog). They process data only to provide their services to us.
- We do not sell your personal information.
- Legal reasons — we may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, or property of PB Breakers or its users.
A note on photos and public links
Catch photos, avatars, and feedback screenshots are stored in a way that makes them accessible by direct link. While the app limits what's shown to whom, anyone with a direct image link could view that image. Please keep this in mind when uploading photos.
Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. If you delete a catch, club, or your account, the associated content is removed, though some information may persist briefly in backups or logs.
Your choices and rights
- Access and update — you can view and edit your profile and catches in the app.
- Delete — you can delete your own catches, leave clubs, and request deletion of your account by contacting us at info.pbbreakers@gmail.com.
- Location — you control whether your photos carry GPS data before you upload them.
- Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights (such as under GDPR or California law) to access, correct, or delete your data. Contact us to exercise these.
Children's privacy
PB Breakers is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will remove it.
Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your information, including access controls on our database and secure authentication. No system is perfectly secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. We'll update the "Last updated" date above, and significant changes may be communicated in the app.
